We created a program, which enables visiting and experiencing the real Africa without strict conditions, specific education, experience and time limits. It’s our belief that anyone, who would like to spend some time with children, meet friendly locals, explore remote African villages and interesting places and see animals in their natural environment, deserves this opportunity. There are many people, who spend their whole lives dreaming about visiting Africa and we are here to help you make these dreams come true.
You can come to Gambia any time, for one week to one month and more. The Travel As a Volunteer program is suitable for anyone: students, the employed, honeymooners, the retired, individuals, groups, etc.

WHEN DO I APPLY?
To be best prepared for your work, you will not need much time. Before traveling, you will learn where you are travelling to, with whom you will be working, what you will be doing, where you will live and so on. This information will help you decide if this is what you really want to do. In addition, it is obligatory to get vaccine, and if you decide to get additional immunizations, it might take a little longer. To visit The Gambia you will might need a visa. For more information about visas please read the general information about The Gambia and useful information.
HOW TO APPLY?
The first step is to fill in the application form and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. It will take a few minutes and give you the opportunity to tell us more about yourself, including about the required knowledge, experience and qualifications. It makes sense to fill out a form, although you may still not decided to travel at all. This way we can check whether there is a demand for your skills and start the process.
Each volunteer has unique set of experience and skills – they can be professional or not. You may have worked in small firms, have experience in working with young children, practical skills such as cooking; you may be qualified as a teacher or lecturer, as a nurse in pediatrics… Each volunteer is considered individually, ensuring the best possible match of your strengths with the needs of our projects.
Before you travel we will guide you through administrative matters that are necessary if you are travelling to The Gambia. We offer advice on vaccinations and health requirements, and in your stead organize flights and visas to enter the country. We are ready to assist you in preparing before you travel. When you arrive to The Gambia, our representative will take care of you. When you arrive, you will attend training on work and cultural awareness. The training will take up to two days and will help you to understand the culture and history of the country, in which you will be working, and allow you to connect with other volunteers.
HOW MUCH TIME WILL YOU SPEND VOLUNTEERING ABROAD
After you figure out how much time you have, the decision is much easier. Selection of volunteer work in our offer is limited, because we focus only on projects which are a part of. According to how much time you intend to spend, you can choose from:
– daily visits to the local school
– a week of teaching/helping/assisting in local school or kindergarten
– one month (or longer – recommended) of volunteer work at a local school or kindergarten
SUMMER SCHOOL 2017
International summer school for children up to the age of 12 will be held in The Gambia in July 2017. The program was prepared by two special education teachers in collaboration with Charity Pearl humanitarian organization.
International Summer school is free of charge for all children. We want them to gain knowledge that will help them in their future and education. We want them to overcome their fear, to upgrade their English language skills, to be creative, to get musical education and do sports activities. All this will be done in a creative environment, in small groups and through educational games and stories.
Professional training is not a requirement. Everybody who would like to educate children and at the same time learn something new is invited. Anyone who could teach Music, Art, English, language courses for children (French, German, Italian…) etc. is welcome to join.
